Hi Reader,
Notes from a Female Founder
Like me, you may have spent years believing that speed was the answer. Move faster, decide faster, react faster to whatever the market throws at us. I was always trying to go fast. Lucky that I got to meet futurist Elatia Abate a year and a half ago. I had been following her on LinkedIn and joined one of her webinars. It blew my mind. She made me think differently. Something all female founders need to do.
Elatia says we actually need to slow down. Something we’ve all heard before. Not because the pace of change has slowed, it hasn't, but because clarity comes from presence, not from reacting to everything at once. As female founders we carry so much, and the instinct can be to speed up when things feel uncertain. What if the better move is to pause long enough to ask what we actually want to create, instead of just defending what we already built. I’ve started to pause and ask myself harder questions.
Sales Sharpenher
Here are a few questions to ask to tune up sales at your company this week.
1. Is your sales strategy anchored to what worked last year (past years), or built around where you actually want to be a year from now?
2. Are you measuring activity, calls made, emails sent, or are you measuring the outcomes that actually matter to revenue?
3. If you're adopting AI tools on your sales team, is it in service of a clear business outcome, or because it's new and everyone else is doing it?
This week’s conversation
Elatia Abate is a futurist, strategist, and educator who left corporate leadership to understand why so many people were unhappy at work. She had a turning point during a 2016 conference on technological disruption that pushed her focus toward helping leaders navigate accelerating change.
Her core argument is simple but hard to practice. Most leaders respond to disruption by moving faster and leaning on planning methods that worked in the past, which keeps them anchored to yesterday instead of building what's next. She offers one question to break that pattern, “Given that we're here, free of the constraints of the past, what is it that we want to create?” She also pushes leaders to replace activity metrics with clear outcomes before deciding how to get there, and to adopt AI only in service of a defined business goal, not out of novelty or fear.

On LinkedIn this week
On LinkedIn, I ask the question that cuts through the busyness, is what you're about to do actually improving your position in the market, or just keeping you moving?
